I was talking to a friend about a week ago and he thought that gas would never get to $4 a gallon. On the way home from work today, I noticed that the price had jumped from about $3.79 a gallon to $3.93 today. I give it just another day or two and we will see regular unleaded gas over $4.

Sad to think it costs me about $50 a week just to get back and forth to work, the store and a few other errands. Been considering buying a bike and saving that gas a bit. And no, nothing with a motor. I'd be using my own muscle to power this one.
That guy I had talked to laughed at me because the price of bikes would cost me a bit. Well, consider this, $150 - 250 for a decent bike would pay for itself in a month! And the fact that I'm a bit out of shape, it would be a good thing for me too.

You may not believe me, but if it gets much higher I will not have any other choice. I used to get out now and then to check out the local bands in Amarillo, but I've really had to cut back. I can't afford the gas to get around. And since my paycheck already went to filling up the tank, I can't even afford the door and a couple drinks.

You ask why I am so short on cash because of the hike in gas?
Think of it like this. It costs me twice as much to fill up as it did last year. I pay twice to three times as much for the food at the grocery store because they had to raise prices in order to ship the food to the store. I am paying about three times as much on my gas bill when I have rarely even used the heater this year. My electric seems to have doubled also for the same use. It's getting out of hand, and even though I got a pretty nice raise over last year, I'm actually in worse shape because of the inflation.

I can't imagine if it keeps going up. The good ole US of A is going to grind to a halt if things don't change soon. This is ruining the economy and it scares me to think of what I will pay for groceries when gas is over $5 a gallon.

Just putting in my two cents on this guys. I hope you are all doing ok through all this and everything gets better very soon!

You should also note that an American dollar in Britain is about 35% of what
their currency is worth and the fact the average wage there is about $30/hour
converted to the American dollar to!!!!!!!

Britain has been paying a lot more than we have for a long time. They are at
$11 a gallon now, or thereabouts! Look for other things to change before gas
prices do, but only when we start encouraging those in positions of elected
power to kick-start inovation, i.e., subsidies for renewable energy
technologies. Voting is so important!
