Welcome to the new ProjectAmarillo.com

We have a whole new look. Many things have changed a lot. All of the old articles are still here, but you will notice that what shows up on the category pages have been shortened, and you need to click the title, or the Read More... text below each article, to see the complete articles.  There are a few new buttons under the articles for you to use. They are on the right side on the full article display. There is a quote button that gives the code to add a link to the article on your own site, and it shows you the display of how it will look. The print button brings up a printable version of the article. The email button will pop up a window that will let you send an email about the article to a friend. The del.icio.us button will allow you to add a bookmark there, and there will soon be others for Digg and other bookmarking sites too. The related button will give a list of articles that are related. If there are comments, the comments link will display how many, and if not then it will tell you add the first comment. The comments are now text only. The reason why, is to keep the spam off the site. We were beginning to get about 20 per week that were spammy links to bad sites. The comments are displayed when you either click the read more link or comment links. If you click the article title, you will still need to click the comments link to see or add comments. The box to add comments is collapsed and you just need to click the + show form to see the comments form.

The calendar was completely replaced also. The old calendar was not compatible with the new software and had too many bugs. The new calendar has a lot of new features. Each venue has it's own list of upcoming events. There are also many categories available and they also have their own pages with a display of upcoming events. The venues are still kept in the database, but the bands / events are not. The old calendar was growing and was up to about 400 and it was getting out of hand. This calendar doesn't store them, and you can type in the band name, event name, etc... when adding a new event. We are now going to keep up with many other types of events, and not just the music. There are categories for DJs, karaoke, poetry, comedy, open mic, sports theater, and art. Other categories are also welcome and you can send in a request to add them too if you like.
To keep the bots on the web from roaming on to the site and adding bogus events, the access to add an event has been limited to registered members only. This works the same for adding new articles also. If you have an event to add to the calendar and do not wish to register, then you will need to use the contact page to send in your events. When viewing an event or venue, you will notice a thumbnail image on the right. Clicking these will show you a large version of these images. This will allow you to add images of your band, venue, or event poster with each event. If you have links to the old RSS feeds of the calendar, we are sorry, they will no longer work. The new calendar doesn't not have this ability at this time, but we are looking into adding that if we can.

The member login area has moved to the top of each page. If you wish to register, feel safe that your email will not be used for any other purpose than to verify your registration. It will not be displayed on your profile. You can add an avatar image to display on your profile, and there is a gallery function to add images that display on your profile as well. When you log in, you will notice a new menu on the left side that gives you the ability to view / change your profile, add an article, add an event, or add a venue. More member only areas will appear in the future and non-registered users will not be able to use those functions.

We are not finished with the new look of Project Amarillo. Time ran short, and we didn't want to make you wait any longer. You may notice things move a bit, colors change, and other new areas added soon. Also, other areas of the site, such as the bands page, the Forum, and individual band pages still have the old format. They currently stand on their own and will not automatically fall in with the new look. This will be correted in the next few weeks. Also, some of the links on those pages will either point to the old version of the site or will not work at all. These will be fixed in the coming week. Also, some images are not displayed correctly on a few articles. These will be corrected soon too.

A new help area will be added soon, that will help you figure out how the new site works, and how to use the member only areas of the site as well.

We hope you enjoy the new look of Project Amarillo, and make it your source online for entertainment and events informaion in Amarillo, Texas.

Wow, you guys have really made Project Amarillo look great. I love it. I can't
wait for what's to come.
I give you kudos.

I love the new calendar. I can
look at each venue and see what's coming and don't have to look at the entire
calendar anymore. Awesome guys. Thanks!!!!!!
